Roderick Hunt MBE
Creator of best-loved characters Biff, Chip, Kipper, Floppy and their friends. His first published stories were those he told his two sons at bedtime. Rod lives in Oxfordshire, in a house not unlike the house in the Magic Key adventures. In 2008, Roderick received an MBE for services to education, particularly literacy. Together with Alex Brychta he won the prestigious Outstanding Achievement Award at the Education Resources Awards in 2009. Alex Brychta MBE
(born 13 January 1956) is a British illustrator. He has collaborated with Roderick Hunt on a series of children books for the Oxford Reading Tree which had an animated spin-off, The Magic Key series. There were originally 30 books in the Oxford Reading Tree, and there are now around 400. They are used by over 80% of British primary schools to help children learn to read, in addition to schools in more than 120 other countries. |
